The following article provides an overview of functions offered in the Ultranet Mobile app (version 2) for iOS.
Table of Contents
1. App pre-requisites
Enable integration. Your school's Ultranet subscription must include the Ultranet 2.6 Mobile Gateway plug-in. If you need this installed or are not sure what version you are running, contact the Support Team to check for you.
Enable accounts. User accounts requiring mobile app access must have this feature enabled under User Admin. Refer to this article for further information.
Configure mobile Class Pages. Only Class Pages that have been marked as a Featured page will be accessible within Ultranet Mobile. To enable this, go to the page in question, open the Page Tools menu and select "General settings", then check the box that says "Promote as a Featured class page".
2. Getting Started
Download the app from the iTunes App Store.
Once installed, launch the app and select your school by typing its name in the field provided and then selecting from the list.
Next, enter your Ultranet User ID and password, then click the Sign In button to finish authenticating.
3. Navigating the app
The three spaces
Ultranet Mobile is divided into three spaces—Personal, Class and School.
Personal. This is how to access your personal profile page, where you can browse your uSpace Media albums.
Class. This space contains all your Featured Class Pages, where you can browse the Media Gallery albums and also access the Class List (Teachers only).
School. This is where you can browse and read School News Articles and Daily Notices.
The Personal Sidebar
Primary navigation across the three spaces is performed by calling up the Personal Sidebar, which is accessed by pressing its button towards the top-left of each space.
Towards the top of the Personal Sidebar, you will see the three spaces. Pressing on any of their labels will load it in the main panel on the right. Once loaded, you can tap anywhere outside the Personal Sidebar to close it.
Towards the bottom of the Personal Sidebar, you will find the button to Sign Out of the app.
Tip: Touchscreen gestures can be used as a shortcut to jump between spaces—specifically, try swiping left/right across the screen when viewing a particular space.
The three spaces are virtually laid out from left to right: Personal, Class then School.
So if you are currently viewing a Class space, swiping left would take you to School space. Conversely, swiping right would have taken you to Personal space.
Pressing the Personal tab in the Personal Sidebar will take you straight to your own Personal Profile in Ultranet. In the main content panel on the right, you will see your custom banner image and display picture. Below this will be a tiled listing of all the albums in your uSpace Media section.
To add a new album, simply press the "Add Album" button in the top-left position of the Album list area.
Give the album a title by tapping the default text area and typing in a name.
As an optional component of the album creation workflow, you will also see a listing of photos and videos from your device's Camera Roll. If you want to add items directly into the new album from the Camera Roll, scroll through this list and tap to select each item to be added.
When you are ready, press the Add button towards the top-right to complete the process.
To edit albums, press the Pencil icon on the top-right to enter Edit Mode. In Edit mode, tapping an album will allow you to edit its description. Pressing the red minus icon on the top-right corner of an album will delete it from the gallery. To exit Edit Mode, press the Pencil icon again.
To open an album, press on its thumbnail image. Once the album expands, you will see each media item represented with a preview thumbnail.
Press any media thumbnail to expand the media and view it in fullscreen.
To add a new media item, press the "Add Media" tile that appears first in the album, and follow the on-screen prompts.
To edit media items within the album, press the Pencil icon on the top-right to enter Edit Mode.

Pressing the Classes tab in the Personal Sidebar will load the default first class in the main content panel. To view a different class, press the Navigator icon towards the top-right of the screen, then select the class you want from the list that slides out.
Once the class page has loaded, you will see your custom banner image and display picture. Below this will be a class member list (Teachers only) and then a tiled listing of all the albums in your class Media Gallery.
To expand your class member list, press the "Show" link.
Students will be listed alphabetically across the screen.
To visit a student's profile, press on their picture/name in the list.
Swipe up or down to navigate through the list.
To collapse the member list, scroll back to the top of the panel and press the "Hide" link.
Navigating and working with albums in the Class space or on a student's profile page is identical to the Personal space (detailed above).
If new content has been added to the Class space and it is not showing in the app yet, scroll to the top of the page, then swipe to pull downwards until you see the spinning "Refresh" icon, then release.
Pressing the School tab in the Personal Sidebar will load a section for School Notices and another section for News Articles in the main content panel.
By default, all news/notice sections will be loaded. To filter this, press the "All" label and select a News Centre Section to narrow down results.
Each notice or news article entry is displayed as a block showing the title and date-stamp.
Press the block to view the full details.
Press the "Back" link at the top-left to close the pop-up.
Scroll to the top and press the "Currently showing" button to filter results by News Centre section.
If new content has been added to the School space and it is not showing in the app yet, scroll to the top of the page, then swipe to pull downwards until you see the spinning "Refresh" icon, then release.
The Action Button
The Action Button is a shortcut to access the Capture function, your Notifications and Reminders, and your Message Inbox. Pressing the Action Button will reveal the links to these three functional areas.
Read more about these individual functional areas in their respective sections below.
Similar to the Personal Toolbar button in the top-left corner, the Action Button is persistent, so you will always see it floating in the bottom-right corner of all the main screens.
4. Capturing and uploading media
The Capture Button
The Capture Button (accessible via the Action Button) provides a shortcut to quickly take a photo or record a video, which can then be uploaded to Ultranet via the app.
To capture media, simply press the Capture Button, then select the media type you wish to record by sliding the toggle on the top-left.
Media can always be uploaded to your Personal Profile. If you are logged in as a Teacher, you can also upload to students' Personal Profiles or to the Class Media Gallery.
To upload media, follow the corresponding instructions for each space (Personal/Class) as detailed in section 3 above.
5. Checking notifications & reminders
The contents of your Dashboard 'Week Ahead' notifications are accessible within the app, allowing you to keep track of what is going on in your Ultranet network.
To view this, press the Action Button and select the Notifications & Reminders icon.
All available items will be listed in chronological order. Tap on a particular item to view it in more detail.
To return to the previous screen, press the Back button towards the top-left.
6. Reading & composing Messages
The Messaging feature within the app allows you to access your Message Inbox to read, reply and compose new messages with others in your Ultranet site.
To access the Message area, press the Action Button and select the Messaging icon.
All current message threads in your Inbox will be listed in chronological order. Tap on a particular message thread to expand and view its contents.
To reply within an existing thread, open the message thread and press in the text field at the bottom part of the screen. Write your message, then press the Send button.
